Before you contact us to
give up your dog - please read this page.
Our
foster dogs come
from local shelters and other local rescue groups. 99% of shelters
do not adopt out pit bull's or pit bull mixes, we try to help those
dogs that have no one else but us. This makes
space very hard to find, we need your help, they need your help.
Owning an animal regardless of what type it is, is a lifetime
commitment, our society has made our four legged family members
very disposable. Think about it, would you give your child away
because they don't listen, aren't completely potty trained, or just
plain have no manners? To us, our pets are our kids.
Please do not contact us if you need to get "rid" of your
personal dog(s) and are unwilling to help in the process. It takes an average
of 12-24 months to find responsible homes for this breed and
sometimes even longer. Yes, they do get lucky once and awhile
and get adopted quicker but that is not the "norm". If you can't help in the process, please
be responsible and take them to your local shelter or vet and hold them as they
are put down humanely with someone they love holding them. Don't let
a stranger be the one they have to be with. I know many people are
outraged by that statement, but you know what, it is just the reality. Think that sounds harsh,
go visit your local shelter and see how many unwanted animals are
there. Most shelters will tell you why the animals were
surrendered, just ask.
If you need to rehome your current dog, and are willing to help us
help them until they find a home, we will do everything we can to
help you get them listed. We will help screen applications, help
take pictures and do home visits.
If you have found a stray and are looking to find them a quick home,
please take them to your local shelter, even if you believe they don't care and
will "just put them down" - it is a better option then living on a chain,
or running loose to get hurt, or hurting someone else's pet? Remember I'm not the person that abandoned them,
please understand one person can only do so much.
Although your local humane society might not adopt out pit bulls, they do know what
rescues to contact that might have space. Give those shelter folks a break, they didn't abandoned the dog(s) either, they are on the dogs side.
It really upsets me to hear people say, "well they just put them down", as if
they really enjoy doing that, remember its a choice to work in a shelter, they
do so because they CARE about animals. I have yet to met a shelter worker
that didn't care that they had to euthanize so many animals everyday. They
rarely get a thank you for caring enough to do their jobs with compassion.
Please be patient while wanting to
hear back from us, we are a working family that does rescue between our
regular paying jobs. Without those jobs we wouldn't be able to
help the homeless.
