Welcome to our site....

  • Who we are - BHMSR is a licensed home rescue in the State of Missouri. Our rescue efforts are a family decision that includes everyone right down to the family cat.

  • Our Mission - is to promote rescue, companion pet education and responsible pet ownership.

  • Where do our fosters come from: 99% of our fosters come straight from shelters in Missouri.  Without rescues there is very little chance a pit bull or pit bull type dog will make it out of the shelter into a home.

Don't consider your local shelters the bad guys, look to your neighbors, friends, family and co-workers that refuse to spay/neuter their pets. Shelters and rescues do all they can to find as many homeless animals their forever homes.  We didn't create the over pet populations - we are the ones with the heart enough to try and do something about it.

The animals that end up homeless, abused and neglected didn't ask to be born, they were a product of someone's greed, and/or lack of knowledge to the real problems our companion animals face everyday.  This problem isn't specific to one town, one state, one breed, or cats versus dogs; this is a nationwide issue with all companion animals that will not solve itself.  Until people start taking responsibility for their pets, many will die an early death.  Do your part, remember owning a pet is a life time commitment - be responsible and spay/neuter your pets - make it YOUR job to help educate anyone that will listen to the importance of spay and neutering. Donate straight to your local shelter and/or rescue, they your need and support now.  If you think its expensive to care for one or two pets, stop and think about how much it cost to house thousands every year!

Teaching our kids to be responsible and involved is the only way to stop this cycle of abuse and abandonment of our companion animals regardless of breed!
